About Us

Beekman Violin, Inc. is a family-owned and operated, full-service violin shop, committed to supporting and nurturing the Rhode Island and surrounding areas’ string community. We offer rentals, repairs, and sales of violins, violas, celli, and stand-up basses.

Rentals

Our rental program is designed for the prospective musician, child or adult, whose interest in playing a stringed instrument may become a long-term love. Each contract is insured and includes an earned discount towards instrument purchase.

The Studio

Learning to play a stringed instrument is a challenging endeavor, and investing in lessons with an experienced and insightful teacher can make all the difference! At Beekman Violin, we offer lessons on the violin and viola for students of all ages, and provide referrals for many excellent teachers of all violin-family instruments in and around Southern RI.

Services

All our maintenance and repair services, from bow rehairs to full instrument restorations, are offered in-shop at our location in Peace Dale, Rhode Island. Our craftsperson, Mr. Stephen A. Beekman, is a skilled luthier with decades of experience caring for violin-family instruments.

All three of my children played a string instrument from Beekman violin. We rented for many years, and bought two of the three instruments from them for high school orchestra. The Beekman family and staff are knowledgable and kind, and helped guide us through the world of stringed instruments. You are met with warmth and skill when you enter their little shop, and are comforted knowing you are in very capable hands.

For more than a decade, our family has relied on the Beekmans for rentals, purchase, service, lessons and, best of all, a sense of community. With two daughters–a cellist and a violinist–we have trusted the Beekmans with all things strings–from elementary school through college. We are still playing and continue to be among their biggest musical fans! Thank you, Beekman Violin!
